Background

Obsidian-EagleBridge is a desktop plugin that connects Obsidian with Eagle so that attachments can be managed as media assets rather than scattered local files. It is designed for note-taking workflows with large numbers of images, PDFs, videos, and clipped references, where native attachments can quickly become hard to preview, organize, sync, and revisit.

Workflow

The plugin keeps writing inside Obsidian while moving asset management into Eagle. Files that are already inside an Eagle library can be linked directly, while external files and URLs can be imported into Eagle first and then written back to the note as stable links. This reduces vault bloat, keeps metadata closer to the asset, and makes attachments easier to browse across devices.

Core Features

Obsidian-EagleBridge supports drag-and-drop, paste, and URL-based import in both Markdown notes and Canvas. A library profile system handles multiple Eagle libraries, path groups, ports, and default target behavior, so the same vault can work across different devices without hardcoded paths.

To make attachments easier to use inside notes, the plugin also runs a local preview service for images, PDFs, videos, and audio. This allows Obsidian to display embedded media directly from Eagle-managed assets while preserving deeper metadata and library structure on the Eagle side.

Synchronization and Retrieval

Beyond upload, the plugin supports tag synchronization, backlink retrieval, page-level attachment migration, and safe export. Obsidian metadata can be written back to Eagle, Eagle tags can be imported into note frontmatter, and attachments used by the current page can be reviewed as a connected asset set rather than isolated files.

Design Focus

The project focuses on keeping media-heavy note workflows fluid. Instead of asking users to choose between writing convenience and asset management, Obsidian-EagleBridge treats the two as one workflow: capture, preview, tag, reference, revisit, and export from the same knowledge environment.
